InDesign’s Primary Text Frame

In this document you’ll learn the crucial difference between documents that have a Primary Text Frame, and one that hasn’t.

New jargon

  • Facing Pages

  • Primary Text Frame

  • Body text

New commands

  • Window > Text Wrap

  • Text Wrap Panel > Wrap Around Bounding Box

Homework options
  1. Recreate the Guatemala flyer, using Ruler Guides and Paragraph Styles.

  2. Recreate an alternative version of the same document. Sketch out some ideas, then either start from scratch, or adjust elements on screen and edit Paragraph Styles.

  3. Design a poster for Plant Power. Sketch out ideas first before using InDesign. Create a grid and use guides if that works for your design.

  4. Recreate the Discover Nicaragua tour sheet. You can either copy the document you made previously, or give it your own slant.
