Presentation Mode

Next time you're in the middle of designing something and you just want to know what it's going to look like (without the guides, columns, hidden characters etc etc) you need to try out InDesign's Presentation Mode. Activate by choosing View> Screen Mode > Presentation:

InDesign Presentation Mode
InDesign Presentation Mode

On the second image above, notice that as well as InDesign's guides disappearing, you're seeing the image in high quality too. Doing both those things at once makes this a gamechanger for me.

I've now forgotten all the shortcuts I used to know about hiding guides and so on: instead, I do this: Escape / then Shift+W. Escape stops me editing text, so I can confidently use the Shift+W shortcut to jump into Presentation mode. Once I want to get back to work again, it's just the Escape key again.
